Alex Burke is a dedicated Doctor of Physical Therapy who helps people of all ages and backgrounds feel their best and reach their full potential following injury and surgery.
What does a typical session look like?
The session begins with a full history and review of the client’s goals. This is followed up with a physical assessment, where Alex identifies specific areas for improvement such as strength, range of motion and muscle tension.
Next, targeted manual therapy is performed to accelerate healing, relieve pain and enhance performance. The session concludes with a creation of a tailored plan moving forward, incorporating exercises and interventions to optimize recovery.
Sessions are generally 60 minutes and are always 1-on-1. Alex takes pride in forming strong relationships with his clients and offers open communication between sessions.
SERVICES
-
Deep Tissue Massage
A form of manual therapy in which deep force is applied to the muscles and connective tissues of the body. This is effective at relieving pain, reducing muscle tension, increasing flexibility, improving muscle activation and accelerating recovery.
-
Trigger Point Dry Needling
Insertion of small, thin needles into trigger points, or “knots”, in the muscle to facilitate muscle relaxation, pain modulation, and tissue healing.
-
Neuromuscular Re-Education
Re-training the muscles and brain to work together more harmoniously. This usually consists of stimulation of the muscle or body part while performing active movement.
-
Injury and Surgery Rehab Exercise Prescription
Tailored exercise programming specific to the athlete’s injury or surgery. Exercise selection is dependent on the type of injury or surgery, the surgeon’s recommendations, the stage they are at in the recovery process and the athlete’s goals.

About Alex Burke
Alex earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from the University of Rhode Island. During this time he played on the Men’s Rugby Club and was also a Wide Receiver and Defensive Back Coach at his alma mater, North Kingstown High School, where he helped the team win three straight state titles.
He started his career off working in an insurance-based, traditional style PT clinic. While he enjoyed his time in this setting, he realized that cash-pay PT would better suit him and his dedicated and personalized treatment style.
He went on to work for TB12 Sports in Boston, where he mastered his massage therapy and exercise selection skills. He developed an ability to quickly get people out of pain and recover from injury and surgery. He worked with many world class collegiate and professional athletes all over the U.S. During this time, Alex also discovered his passion for running, and has completed five marathons since 2021.
When the TB12 Boston location closed, Alex started “Burke Sports Rehab” to continue providing exceptional care to his clients in the Boston area. He is passionate about leading athletes back to their sport following an injury, surgery or set back, and then helping them stay healthy. He is accepting new clients at this time.
Success Stories
“I started working with Alex two years ago when I began training for my first marathon. I was not much of a runner before that, so his focus from the start was on prehab - injury prevention was the name of the game. When aches and pains inevitably showed up, as they do when you go from not running to running a marathon, we switched our focus to rehab - intervention at the first sign of injury allowed me to recover quickly and continue working, safely and healthily, toward my goal.
As a runner himself, Alex understands the physical and mental stress of the sport and he brings that knowledge and compassion to his work. He’s professional, he dedicates time to better educating himself and his clients, and he will be your biggest cheerleader. I’m now training for my 6th marathon with Alex and needless to say, I couldn’t or wouldn’t do it without him!”

“Alex helped me through a hamstring injury two years ago and I have never stopped seeing him for performance treatments. As an ultra marathoner with a seven year outdoor run streak, longevity and staying healthy are extremely important for me. I am very grateful for Alex’s knowledge, passion, and willingness to work with me through everything!”
